Curriculum

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  •  Functional knowledge of Windows XP and Keyboarding
  •  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 suite which includes   Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint

 

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Windows XP

Introduce students to Window concepts and terms. Includes File Management terms and skills to enable students to effectively manage documents.

Microsoft Word 2003 –

Introduction

Enable students to create, save, open, close, edit and print documents. Formatting, changing Fonts, manipulating tabs and running spell and grammar checks are other basic elements.

Microsoft Word 2003 –

Intermediate

Creating tables, performing calculations, charting, adding clip art, creating columns and mail merge are some of the intermediate level techniques.

Business Applications Integrated Project will utilize Word features in the real business setting.

Microsoft Excel 2003–

Introduction

Students will create, edit, format, save, print, and close workbooks. They will apply character formatting, add borders, shading and patterns to cells, as well as, AutoFormat worksheets.

Microsoft Excel 2003 –

Intermediate

The Intermediate level stresses techniques used to create enhanced spreadsheets through the use of calculations, multiple worksheet linking, graphics, charts and templates.

Business Applications Integrated Project will utilize Excel features to create enhanced Spreadsheets for help in  analyzing data.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2003

Basic elements of design and graphics are introduced and developed to create business presentations through the use of this presentation software.

Business Applications Integrated Project will utilize PowerPoint features to create a Marketing Presentation, to include pictures, sound, and transitions with animation.
Microsoft Access 2003 Students will understand basic design concepts of a database, data management concepts, and presentation of information through forms and reports. Use the Office Links options to integrate Access data with Word and Excel.

Keyboarding Skills

Students will be taken from basic keyboarding to intermediate speed and accuracy with the full-featured Typing Quick & Easy. Weekly certificates will be submitted.
